I've heard mixed reviews about river cruising - some people find it boring and some find it amazing. Honestly, it's not on my list of "must-do" travel vacations BUT the stars aligned and we are giving it a try! Why not?!?
We (mom, dad, James and I) are flying to Amsterdam in September for a 15 day Grand European Tour from Amsterdam to Budapest on Viking River Cruise. River cruising is port and scenic cruising intensive, I hear you stay in port longer and there are excursions included at every port. Wine and beer are included with meals and there is free wifi, Sounds great!
We are flying to Amsterdam a few days ahead of the cruise. Since we have been to Amsterdam a few times, we are going to stay in Delft and we plan to take day trips to The Hague and Rotterdam.
We board the in Amsterdam and then head to Kinderdijk, Netherlands; cruise the Waal and Merwede; Cologne, Germany; Koblenz, Germany; Cruise the Rhine; Miltenberg, Germany; Wurzburg, Germany; Cruise the Danube; Bamberg, Germany; Nuremberg, Germany; Regensburg, Germany; Passau, Germany; Melk, Austria; Vienna, Austia (overnight), Budapest, Hungary (overnight).
I will provide updates on my blog pre cruise and while we travel.
